Automated Electrified Monorail (AEM) systems can be provided in many different configurations, with most consisting of a floor or overhead supported extruded aluminum rail and side mounted power and communication conductor bar.

At the heart of the AEM system is the trolley/carrier assembly. This assembly typically consists of a loadbar, motor and idler trolleys, control panel, and carrier/fixture assemblies. A gear-motor (motor trolley) drives the urethane coated drive wheel and receives electrical power and control signals via the conductor bar. The loadbar connects the carrier/fixture (payload) to the motor and idler trolleys.

The control panel receives signals from the PLC (or PC) via the conductor bar. The standard PLC programming directs all traffic. In some applications where conductor bar is not desired, Inductive Power Distribution systems are provided offering reduced maintenance, clean room and wash down capability.
